i visited my sister in ottawa this weekend and it was great seeing her. we went to a the most serene republic show. i haven't been following the band for awhile but they played a lot of older ones i liked. meligrove band was supposed to open but they had h1n1 or something. afterwards we met up with rachel's friends and went clubbing. i felt a bit awkward at times but whatever. one of her friends kept on saying it was a huge sausage fest and kept on freaking out everytime he thought there were too many gyrating male butts near him. on sunday we went to a vintage clothing show and it was packed, son. i picked up a brooch that was shaped like a feather. then she prepared me dinner and waited with me for the bus that went to the airport.

i don't know why, but it was a very good weekend. one of the best, maybe.

here is a neat video. i like the mustard shirt on the couch plucking at the guitar on the table.

a few weeks ago at mark's party i was dancing unusually hard and hurt my back. most of the time my back's been okay but sometimes, like yesterday, it'll be hell. my entire lower back and left buttock will be hurting and i have to keep that grimace off my face cos i'm at work talking to parents and students.

i like this excel commerical a lot! the pink donut is CUTE

sometimes i buy things

as an admirer of everything lena corwin, i have been eyeing the lines & shapes artist series books since they first came out last year and had them on my never-ending "to buy" list. i never really got around to it though. i was checking out the site again a few weeks ago, and saw that they had come out with a new one, volume 9. i recognized the cover right away, it was takashi iwasaki, this awesome artist dude who embroiders and paints and paper collages. i wrote him an embarrassingly gushy email once after the first time i saw his stuff in ruby mag. he had a show at le gallery earlier this year and i was really amazed. anyways, the book featured his and 6 others artists' work and there was a a book fair special (still going on) so i bought it right away.

that day i was sorta on an e-shopping spree, and also ordered this photo book and a magazine subscription from frankie mag. they describe themselves as "an australian magazine that’s as smart, funny, sarcastic, friendly, cute, rude, arty, curious and caring as you are". i don't know about that, but i definitely fit the rude description at least! the photos inside the book are pretty, quirky, dreamy and magical. i LOVE that kind of stuff. i've seen the magazine sold at aritzia before but i haven't seen it for awhile. i read on anabela's twitter today that apparently they don't distribute it in canada anymore, although you can still buy a subscription online and get it delivered to your door.

this was on the youtube playlist at kevin's party and i thought it was incredibly catchy

we have been getting lots of giant black ants in the basement these past two months. we always get some in the house in the summer but this year they've been everywhere. my dad has set up a zillion different kinds of traps. the worst are the little pieces of paper on the floor with the sticky poisoned syrupy stuff he puts on it. i keep stepping on them, both barefoot and with socks. it's annoying.

i bought a badass pair of chrome fabric scissors yesterday and am excited to start using them. i be ballin'.

last summer i went fabric shopping with my visiting aunt and i bought some liberty print fabric at l.a. fabrics on queen street. i knew from the start i wanted to make a shirt out of it. because i still have poor skills in sewing, my aunt took the fabric along with some greenish shot cotton i got from the workroom back with her to her seamstress in hong kong this past summer. i gave her one of my aa oxford shirts and the seamstress pretty much copied the style of the shirt perfectly. my aunt mailed me the package containing the three shirts last week and i was pretty stoked cos they look awesome. the floral one is probably my favourite button down shirt of life right now. i am still excited about it.

going to greece real soon. i'll see you guys when i get back i guess.
